Jason Evans, seventeen year old cornet player and son of our musical director Rodney, has been appointed Principal Trumpet in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
09/11/2009 - Band Dinner
Friends and supporters joined the members of Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band on Saturday 31st October at Port St Mary Golf Club to celebrate another busy year, at their annual dinner and awards night. They were also joined by distinguished guests who included President of Tynwald, Noel Cringle MHK and his wife Mary, Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK and his wife Rachel, and Chairman of Castletown Commissioners, Alwyn Collister and his wife Joan.
27/09/2009 - Sunday Fun Day
On 27th September the Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band participated in the Sunday Fun Day event organised by the Southern Multi-Agency Team (Police, DHSS, Health etc) and held at Ronaldsway Aircraft Social Club Grounds.
12/08/2009 - Geoff Whitham
I’m sure most of you will know by now, the sad news that Geoff Whitham sadly passed away in July. Supporters of the band will recall his visits to the island over the last 3 years to join us for our annual subscription concerts. Geoff was an inspiration to us all and will be sadly missed, both by the Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band and by the brass band world in general.
